Zeitgeist is originally a German expression that means "the spirit (Geist) of the time (Zeit)". It denotes the intellectual and cultural climate of an era.

時代精神，反映時代面貌的總體精神特徵。如「盛唐氣象」就是對唐朝繁榮昌盛的時代精神風貌的概括。
